Important Information

Baggage allowance for scheduled/private charter flights: 

This is on services within East Africa.

Usually limited to 15kgs – sometimes less in soft-sided, duffle type bags.

SOFT Luggage:

In light aircraft the baggage area and weight allowance are limited. Hard Samsonite type suitcases do not fit into the cargo compartment easily, if at all. Due to limited space available for storage, we strongly recommend using soft duffle bags rather than hard suitcases.

$10 per person per day

Should the guide be traveling with you for several days, we recommend tipping at the end of the journey. Please discuss tipping for groups with your consultant.

Health

It is advisable to take emergency medical insurance prior to entering East Africa.

Malaria is virulent. Take prophylactics two weeks before arrival and continue two weeks after leaving. Seek advice from your chemist or doctor on the most suitable drug available as certain drugs lose their effectiveness.

It’s advisable not to drink water from the taps. Bottled water is readily available.

It is advisable to buy travel insurance covering accidents, illness or hospitalization or repatriation for the period of your stay. Temporary membership in East African Flying Doctors’ Service is also recommended for safari goers. Members who require emergency medical attention on safari are flown to Nairobi for the best medical attention available in the country.

 

Electricity

The power supply is 240 volt 50 cycles. Plugs are usually 13-amp 3 pin square (British type)

 

Credit Cards, Cash and Traveler’s Checks

International credit cards are accepted by most restaurants, stores, hotels, lodges, camps, car rental firms, etc. However, many small shops in rural areas will not accept them rather cash in TSHS is accepted.  American Express, Thomas Cook, Visa, and MasterCard Traveler’s Checks are widely accepted.

Clothing

Lightweight casual clothes can be worn all year round, with a jacket or sweater for early winter mornings and evenings. On safari keep clothes to a minimum and mostly of neutral coloring – khakis, browns, and greens. A sunhat, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellant are a must. Bring a hat, good walking shoes, and sunscreen. Don’t forget swimwear and binoculars. Some city restaurants and clubs have dress codes – casual jacket for men, informal dresses for women. Kindly avoid black and blue clothing during safari.

Driving times

While on safari, you will be driving on a gravel road and some sections will be rough, dusty and bumpy. Our vehicles are custom made to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Driving times are always an approximation due to unscheduled stops to view wildlife or any interesting thing that could catch the attention of your eye on the way. Our vehicles have Free WIFI onboard to ensure that you are connected to the outside world. We also provide, nuts, bottled water, wine and soft drinks inside the vehicles so that you stay hydrated!

 

 

08 NIGHTS & 09 DAYS SAFARIS

DAY 1: PICKUP AND SLEEP OVER ARUSHA SERENA

  • Pick up at Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha
After Immigration and luggage collection you shall meet our driver/guide on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (As per arrival flight details) and you will be transferred to the lodge for overnight stay.

Day 2: ARUSHA – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, you will be transferred from Serena hotel to Arusha airport for morning domestic flight to Serengeti. On arrival you will meet our professional driver guide and transfer to the lodge for Lunch. After lunch, you will then continue on a game-drive en-route through the vast Serengeti National Park.

Serengeti National Park & Maasai Mara Game Reserve. 

Descriptions

Is the home of the greatest concentration of large mammals on earth and the scene of the annual migration, a movement of more than 1 ½ million animals in a never-ending journey is search of the best pasture and access to precious water. There are 95 species of mammals and over 500 species of birds in the eco-system. The land is characterized by vast stretches of open plains, punctuated by kopjes, rock formations that have survived from the Pre-Cambrian period, and more rolling, hilly, mixed savannah woodland, cut by seasonal streams and rivers that nurture huge trees. Most popular animals among tourists are the Big Five, which include; Lion, African Leopard, African Bush Elephant, Eastern Black Rhinoceros and African Buffalo.

 

The Serengeti is vast and includes the endless plains of the south and west (its name is derived from Maasai word Serengeti or “endless plains”), and encompassing the Northern and western woodlands and passing into the open undulating plains of the Maasai Mara.  Two main rivers systems provide life giving sustenance, the Mara River in Kenya and the seasonal Grumeti River in Tanzania, both crossed and re crossed each year during the migration, and home to some of the largest crocodiles on earth!

 

DAY 3 & 4: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.

After breakfast, proceed with Morning & afternoon game drives in Serengeti National park. Meals and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA 

After breakfast, depart to Ngorongoro conservation area via Olduvai Gorge to visit the small but interesting museum of this famous archaeological site. Then, you will have a lunch at the lodge. After lunch proceed with Ngorongoro highland walks with visit Maasai cultural village.

In the evening return to the lodge for evening at leisure and overnight

NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA (CRATOR)

 

DESCRIPTONS

The Ngorongoro crater, home to up to 25,000 mammals, the largest intact caldera in the world and providing one of the most breathtaking views in the natural world, with its back drop of volcanoes and its floor punctuated by thousands of animals. Here it is not unusual “to see “THE BIG FIVE” in a morning. include the black rhinoceros, the African buffalo or Cape buffalo, and the hippopotamus There also are many other ungulates: the blue wildebeest, Grant’s zebra, the common eland, and Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles. Waterbucks occur mainly near Lerai Forest.

 

The conservation area is unique in that man, the pastoral & resident Maasai and wildlife live in peace, cheek by jowl, although human habitation is not permitted in the crater itself. Outside the crater there is the chance to see the Maasai and guided walking is possible or longer treks of from one or two days to several days!

 

DAY 6: NGORONGORO CRATER FLOOR.

After breakfast, descent into the Crater with picnic lunches for a tour around the Lerai Acacia Forest and the crater floor, looking for giant-tusked elephant, rare black rhino and the black-maned lion. Ascend the crater rim in the evening through verdant montane forest and return to the lodge for evening at leisure and overnight.

 Day 7: NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA – LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, depart to Lake Manyara National park. Lunch at the lodge. After lunch continue on a game drives in Lake Manyara National Park. The park is best known fro its three climbing lions, but you are more likely to see elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, primates and a wealth of bird life. Return to the lodge for evening at leisure and overnight.

LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

A small but wonderful park, at the base of the Great Rift Valley, which together with nearby Tarangire National park, are found on the way to Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Manyara scenically unmatched for its great contrasts of Lake and plains, ground water forest and the towering above The Rift ramparts. It is home to large flocks of flamingo, sometimes in several 100,000’s with Pelicans and Yellow billed storks nesting on the tops of forest giants and feeding in the Lake delta of the Kirurumu River. The elephants in the park are unusually approachable and when treated with respect will pass within a few feet of a car, dwarfing it, a humbling experience!

 

The ground water forest is home to many primates including large troops of baboons and The Blue monkeys, fascinating to watch and with complex behavior patterns.

 

Is known for the flamingos that inhabit the lake and more than 400 species of birds inhabit the park and many remain throughout the year. The Park is best known for its tree climbing lions, but you are more likely to see elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, primates and a wealth of bird life.

 

 Day 8: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, depart to Tarangire National park to en-route a. with game drive. Then lunch at the lodge. After lunch you will continue with a game drive in Tarangire national park.

 

Tarangire National park there’s an enormous amount of game here, including giraffe, buffalo, lesser kudu, eland, Oryx, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah and elephant. Game viewing tracks meander along the great Tarangire River, one of East Africa’s famous “Sand Rivers”. The bird life here can be superb and the rolling hills are dotted with ancient Baobab trees and some dense woodlands, distinguishing Tarangire from most of the rest of the northern plains game parks.

 

Return to the lodge for evening at leisure and overnight.

Day 9: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK – ARUSHA – KILIMANJARO AIRPORT – DEPART 

After Breakfast, depart to Arusha town. Lunch at town restaurant. After lunch transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your departure flight back home.
